The League of Women Voters Presents ~
How NH Government Works
The League of Women Voters is
a non-partisan political organization that has worked for 97 years to increase
voting participation by offering information on how government works. We never
support or oppose any candidates or parties. We do, however, study issues of
public policy to develop positions from which we advocate in the legislature
and in the public.
In this program the League
will explain how government in NH operates, how a bill becomes a law, how the
public can make their views known to elected officials and thus advocate for
their views. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers. Presenters:
Liz Tentarelli, president, League of Women Voters NH. Liz is a retired
educator, a former town elected official, and a member of the Citizens Advisory
Board to the women's prison. She is a frequent attendee at legislative hearings
to present testimony on behalf of the League. Nancy Marashio, vice president,
League of Women Voters of the Kearsarge/Sunapee Area is a town moderator in
Newbury. She was dean of liberal arts and taught at River Valley Community
College for many years. Nancy has served on the national League’s study
committee on redistricting and testifies on election law at the State House.
Free and open to all.
