Draft Minutes of the May 27, 2009 meeting of Hancock Library Trustees

Present:

Secretary’s Report:
Minutes of April 22, 2009 meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:
Accepted

Director’s Report:
Upcoming events and summer reading programs were reviewed

Amy is researching how neighboring towns manage their building and grounds needs

Research on ownership of the library land and building is continuing. Selectboard minutes indicate that the town owns the land behind the library. Hayward’s history documents the gift of $2000 given by Adolphus Whitcomb and accepted by the town in 1880 with the condition that “the town procure or purchase a piece of land ..to be called the Hancock Town Library Building, to be kept in repair by the town..” See attached copy from History of Hancock. The library will continue to research the deed on Tombstone Territory Road.

In July, the library trustees will meet with the Selectboard to report on the Tombstone Territory deed research, discuss town parking behind the library, upcoming budget considerations for the 2010 budget and building and grounds maintenance questions.
