Author Jon Katz says...

....support your local library! Jon Katz is the author of many books (The Dogs of Bedlam Farm, Dog Days, Izzy & Lenore) about life on his farm in upstate New York and his dogs of all breeds. His new book is Soul of a Dog: Reflections on the Spirits of the Animals of Bedlam Farm. Here's what he had to say in one of his recent blog posts:

"Thursday September 10 is one of the highlights of the book tour, an appearance at 6:30 p.m. at "the best little library ever," the Monson Free Library, 2 High Street, Monson, MA, 01057 (413 267-3866). We live in a country that bails out banks and insurance companies but tosses libraries over the side. The Monson Free Library, along with so many others, is desperately needed in its community, and needs help to stave off budget cuts and continue to operate.

"Libraries are an invaluable part of our cultural fabric communities, and a country that abandons them loses some of its soul, I believe. Come and support the Monson Free Library if you can, and if you can't, please support your own local library. People use them more than ever and need them more than ever."
