Library Events for March 2011

Now exhibiting watercolors in the Daniels Room are students from Jan Caskey’s art class. Through April 4th. Please make a point of coming in to view these beautiful works but do call ahead (525-4411) to make sure the room is open. The Daniels Room is often booked for meetings or classes.

Tuesday March 1st at 7:00 pm
First Tuesday Book Club

Join us as we discuss Lisa Genova’s moving novel, Still Alice, about a middle-aged Harvard professor with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Copies of the book are still available at the front desk; it’s a quick read so you could still get it read by March 1st! All are welcome.

Saturday March 5th at 7:00 pm
Kabin Fever Trivia Night with Charlie Ingalls

You don’t have to be Einstein to join us for another fun evening of trivia. Last November’s Trivia Night was so much fun we thought we’d try it again to perk up a March evening. Come alone and form an ad hoc team here or come with a group as a team. Tell your friends! Bring family members! Win fabulous prizes! Do us a favor – drop in the library or call to register so that we know how many to expect: 525-4411. Best suited for the grown-ups in your family! Snacks & drinks provided to help keep your mental abilities sharp. Free to all.

Thursday March 10th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm
Much Ado About Nothing

The Shakespeare for Snowy Days group invites everyone to join them for the movie version of Much Ado About Nothing starring Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh, and Denzel Washington (looking fine in his leather pants). All are welcome!

Wednesday March 23rd at 7:00 pm
Taming Your Town Website with Nahida Sherman

Our town webmaster will present a one-hour (or as long as needed) working session on Taming Your Town Website. A few Hancock cybernauts have expressed an interest in gaining mastery over the Town website. It can be a bit confusing to navigate around its many links, but much could be clarified by a quick session AND suggestions and feedback on how to make the site more user-friendly. It is your site. The Library has wireless access so if you would like hands-on learning, bring your laptop! All are welcome. If you are interested in attending, please email webmaster@hancocknh.org.

From the Children’s Room:

Tuesday, March 1st from 3:15 - 4:00
Lego Club for Elementary School Students

Drop by and build something! A snack is provided.

Saturday March 12th from 10:00 – 11:30 am
Second Saturday Arts with Melody Russell

Come and enjoy a creative morning! Puppetry is this month’s project. Call (525-4411 or 525-4103) or stop by the library to register in advance. $15 fee. For ages 5-12.

Tuesday, March 22nd at 2:30
Springtime Storytime for Preschoolers and Kindergartners

Celebrate the arrival of spring with some springtime stories in the Children's Room. Afterward, we'll plant some seeds to take home!
