Library Events for July 2012

Please welcome Theresa Earle as our new front-desk clerk on Saturdays. We hope to see Britton Kennedy, who staffed the library on Saturdays for many years, in the library as a patron with her son Van and new baby sister or brother come December!

Veggie Swap on Tuesdays @ the Hancock Town Library

Don’t forget! If you have a little too much of something (vegetables) in your garden this year, bring some (not too much!) of the extra to the library on Tuesdays (we’re open from 10 – 7). Others may be looking for just that thing. Radishes and greens in late spring, peas in July, zucchini and cukes in August – whatever! We’ll put them on the front desk and see what happens. If no one needs them, we’ll make sure the extras get taken to the food bank in Peterborough. Thank you!

Summer Reading Program for the Grown-Ups!

The Hancock Town Library is hosting our first ever Summer Reading Program for Grown-ups! The theme this year is Between the Covers. We’ll start June 18 and run through August 3, same as the Summer Reading Program for the children. For every LIBRARY book you read (this includes downloadable audios or ebooks that you get from the library’s Overdrive site online) you can enter a raffle for great prizes such as dinner at the Hancock Inn, a massage from New-Life Massage & Bodywork, and a gift certificate to Fiddleheads CafĂ©. Let the reading begin!!

Free Audio & eBooks available online for Hancock Town Library patrons at http://nh.lib.overdrive.com. Stop by or call for the super-secret password. And don’t forget that we have a Nook to lend. We download the book you want, you take it home for two weeks. Come in and try it out!

The Dream Big Theatre Venture

THIS PROGRAM IS FULL!

In this theatre workshop, students are encouraged to dream big as they individually and collaboratively chart their own course for theatre adventure. Theatre games, character work, improvisation, script writing, clowning, play and scene study, costume, set, and prop design, like points on a compass, all these activities signal exciting creative steps on the theatre making path. Drawing from a bevy of theatre magic and tradition, students will be asked to let their curiosity and imagination map their course for the workshop. Students will both individually and as a group discover new territories, if not worlds, of theatre. And at the end of the workshop, they will share their treasure with an invited audience. What does it mean to dream big and make theatre? Attend the workshop and find out! Enrollment limited to ages 8-17. Pre-Registration Required.
