Fables vs. Forensics with Archaeologist Gail Golec
"Fables vs. Forensics" presents original research by local
archaeologist, Gail Golec, pertaining to a set of human skeletal remains
found in the 1880s in the town of
Walpole, NH. Golec will present a case to test how the historical tale
associated with those remains stacks up to the scientific and archival
analysis. With some surprising and fascinating links to the region's
tumultuous beginnings during The French and Indian War (1753-1764), this
presentation will walk you through the violent events in Walpole in
1755 and how they relate to the human remains in question. Gail Golec
received her B.S. in Anthropology from Mercyhurst College, in Erie, PA
in 1999. While there, she also studied archaeology, physical and
forensic anthropology. She has been a professional archaeologist for 15
years, primarily working in New England and is currently a Project
Archaeologist for Monadnock Archaeological Consulting, LLC., out of
Stoddard, NH.
