Hancock Library Trustees Meeting
Minutes July 29, 2009
Present
Laurie Bryan, Mary Garland, Amy Markus, Peter Ryner
The meeting was called to order at 11:00 am.
The Minutes of June 24, 2009 were approved.
The Treasurer’s report was approved.
Director’s Report
Amy reported that the Library is presently focusing primarily upon children’s programs. There has been good steady use of the Library’s public computers. A special children’s reading program challenge that Amy created was going well and that as a result she would be coloring her hair pink. In early August work will start on planning for the Library’s 150th anniversary celebration, which will take place next year, in 2010. She suggested that the Trustees may wish to begin working on a fundraising plan. Friends of the Library’s book sale donations appear to be strong, and next year Amy will probably rent a larger storage shed. On Saturday, August 1 there will be a sheep dog demonstration behind the library.
New Business
Laurie reported the Board of Selectmen has requested a meeting with the Library Board of Trustees to discuss Budget and Maintenance items. It was agreed that Amy would obtain some professional assistance and Peter offered to also assist in creating a multi-year capital improvement plan.
There was a discussion of dates for the annual Volunteer lunch and Trustees need to inform Amy of their availability on either October 2 or October 9.
Old Business
Peter gave a brief report on the findings of his research on Tombstone Territory road and ownership of Library property. It was agreed that a similar verbal report should be presented to the Board of Selectmen at some future point.
It was agreed that there would be a brief special meeting on August 10th at 5:30 pm to discuss the August 10th meeting with the Board of Selectmen. The next full meeting of the Board will be on September 23 at 11:00 am.
